FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENTS TO TURKEY
Foreign direct investments to Turkey in the first half of 2011 skyrocketed by 324% over the same period of the previous year. Turkey succeeded in attracting USD 6.9 billion in foreign investments in the period January-June compared with 2010 year's USD 1.6 billion.
According to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), investments from European countries increased by over 388%, reaching USD 6.2 billion, while inflow from Near and Middle Eastern countries decreased to USD 76 million, with a decline of 43.3%.
The main benefiting sectors are the services and the manufacturing sector.
